Sodium thiocyanate is a white rhombic crystal or powder. The relative density was 1.735g/cm3. Melting point is 287 ºC. It is easy to deliquescence in air and produces toxic gas when it meets acid. Soluble in water, ethanol, ac etone and other solvents.

 Application and Uses :

Used as a spinning solvent for polyacrylonitrile fibers, chemical analysis reagents, color film film processing agents, certain plant defoliants, and airport road herbicides.
It is also used in, printing and dyeing, rubber processing, black nickel plating and the manufacture of artificial mustard oil.
