What is FERROCENE?

Ferrocene, alias iron dicyclop entadiene and iron cyclope ntadiene, is a highly effective smoke suppressant in gas phase. It is an orange needle-shaped crystal with camphor flavor and molecular weight of 186.04. Sublimation above 100 degrees Celsius, melting point is 172.5 ~ 173 degrees Celsius, boiling point is 249 degrees Celsius. Insoluble in water, 10%NaOH solution and boiling concentrated hydr ochloric acid, soluble in ethanol, ether, benzene, etc.
