Potassium carbonate has anhydrous or crystalline product containing 1.5 molecules. Anhydrous is white granular powder, crystalline product is white translucent small crystals or granules, odorless, with strong alkaline smell, relative density 2.428 (19ºC), melting point 891ºC, solubility in water is 114.5g/l00mL (25ºC) ), easy to absorb moisture and deliquescence in humid air. Dissolved in 1mL of water (25ºC) and about 0.7mL of boiling water, after the saturated aqueous solution is cooled, a glassy monoclinic crystal hydrate is precipitated, the relative density is 2.043, the crystal water is lost at 100ºC, the pH value of 10% aqueous solution is about 11.6, insoluble in ethanol and ether.

Application

1. Mainly used for Analytical reagents,Such as high-purity analysis, emission spectrum analysis, etc. It can also be used as a flux for silicates and insoluble sulfates, as a water-absorbing agent for organic liquids, and in electroplating, chemical fertilizers, and photographic industries.

2. Used in glass, printing and dyeing, soap, enamel, preparation of potassium salt, decarbonylation of synthetic a mmonia, color TV industry, food as leavening agent; as gas adsorbent, dry powder fire extinguishing agent, rubber anti-aging agent, etc.; used for exposed Processing of photosensitive materials.

3. Used in the manufacture of picture tube glass bulbs in the electronics industry, decarburization of chemical fertilizers, and potassium salt manufacturing, as analytical reagents, fluxes, and in the preparation of various potassium salts.

4. As a desiccant in chemical experiments. But it cannot be used as a desiccant for acids, phenols or other acidic substances.

5. Alkaline agent and dough improver, which can inhibit the sourness of noodles, can be used for noodle-made food, and should be used in moderation according to production needs.

6. Used in the production of optical glass which can improve the transparency, strength and refractive index of the glass.
